The calm before the storm #CountryKids

Written by Jeannette

There's a monster of a storm on the way apparently, hitting most of us in the UK overnight Sunday and first thing Monday.

This knowledge has been causing T some worries, he's seen the numerous newspaper headlines saying "90 mph storms to batter Britain" and he's concerned because we live near the woods and also next door to a dog that bit our previous cat years ago. His main worries are that the trees will topple over in the direction of our house (there's been quite a bit of "guess the height of the trees") and that our fence between us and previously-mentioned dog will fall.

All I've been able to do is offer reassurance and tell him that the weathermen are prone to over-egging things sometimes because they don't want to be seen to be getting it wrong again (and this is the point where poor old Michael Fish and the 1987 storm is brought up).

The windy weather has had a bit of an impact already, some small trees are down in the "Deep Dark Wood", making that short cut impassable and the leaves are coming off the trees very fast, it feels as though we walk over a very leafy carpet at times.

We've enjoyed looking at the sky on our walks this week, there's been some very contrasting clouds:

And here's the lovely woods near us, I'm glad we don't have school runs on Monday, hopefully these will all be okay:

One of D's favourite apps is "Storm In A Teacup", I've been explaining this phrase to T and maybe the storm will be just that and fizzle out in the sea.

Keep safe x

Fingers crossed they are wrong - I do get upset seeing the devastation that can happen. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

Yes, hopefully it will all pass through very quickly

I'm hoping the storms don't quite happen too. I have plans for Monday (and have done for ages) and don't want a silly storm to get in the way.

Oh dear, hope it's not too severe where you are and that you can still do what you're planning :)

I hope the storms are not as severe as predicted. My children have been asking if the house will get blown away.
My OJ is currently worrying about the false widow spiders that are all over the news. He haters spiders at the best of times but this has set him on red alert.

Oh poor OJ, I can understand it as the media have jumped on this spider too. Apparently collecting, putting conkers on skewers and putting them by windows/doors helps as spiders don't like the scent of them.
Hopefully this storm will pass everyone by safely x
